the new black diamond atc-guide is a super lightweight multi-function belay & abseil device weighing in at only 103 grams. it has a dual-friction mode - which really works - and it can be used for belaying one or two seconding climbers. black diamond say it auto-locks if someone falls but i haven’t tried that. what i can say is that it works really well with most ropes i have tried even down to 7.7 mm. it also has what black diamond called a release point built in but i have not figured that out yet. nice piece of kit.

from time to time when I see something interesting i'll post it here. i've always been a gear freak and now with this site I can tell people exactly who, what, when, where and why i like or dislike what I see. you're welcome to disagree. we can all learn from each other.
